Don’t look now, but that “Little Ol’ Band From Texas” is sneaking back into town. Wednesday, August 5, ZZ Top will be at the Tyson Events Center performing a night of hits and a taste of their upcoming CD release.

ZZ Top will be at the Tyson Events Center, Wednesday, August 5.
Almost 40 years ago, three guys from rival bands in Houston, Texas joined forces to have some fun and play the blues/rock sound they loved. Now, after 19 albums, 11 of them going gold and platinum, ZZ Top remains one of the biggest bands on the road today. These guys are as well known for their image as they are for their rootsy blues/rock sound. The sunglasses and chest-length beards have become rock n’ roll icons. The trio, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Many long time fans will remember their first visit to Sioux City when ZZ Top shared the stage at the old Auditorium with Aerosmith in the early Seventies. (They are touring with Aerosmith again in 2009, unfortunately not on the Sioux City stop.) They stepped into the lights wearing t-shirts, jeans and of course scruffy beards. Many of the folks jammed into the smokey confines of the old venue had no idea they were witnessing the beginning of one of the most award-winning bands in American rock history. Now, over 30 years later, Sioux City music buffs can relive that night of rocking blues.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 am at the Tyson Events Center and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets are $75.00, $49.00 and $39.00.
