Kelly Richey leads off Fridays on the Promenade.

Kelly Richey is like the mailman…neither rain nor dark of night could keep her from rocking Sioux City. Steady rain throughout the day forced Fridays on the Promenade promoters to move the June 12 show into the close confines of the Chesterfield. Richey, a blues/rock guitarist from Cincinnati adapted quite well to the change of venue. Her blistering guitar solos and raspy vocals warranted several standing ovations from the anxious Promenade crowd. The tight trio made up for the lack of sunshine and a beautiful fountain with two energetic sets of blues standards and smokin’ originals.

This was the first show of the Fridays on the Promenade series which features 7 more great performances throughout the summer. The goal of the FOTP committee is to provide area residents a place to gather in a beautiful setting in downtown Sioux City. The shows run from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, giving patrons a chance to catch some world-class entertainment and still have time to enjoy the nightlife that Sioux City has to offer. Tickets for the shows are only $2.00 at the gate. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available.
